Because we incorporate cutting edge theories, there will be controversy sometimes about how we interpret or present new ideas. We consider this a productive discussion and learning process. We don't want you to automatically agree with whatever we talk about. That's also why we will present links to research studies, so you can make your own interpretations. We want to introduce you to new mental models of wellness, lifestyle and bio-energy that improve life. Learning about bioenergetics is just the start; we also have to figure out how to apply it and conform our lifestyle to this new field of knowledge. That's where our education programs come in.
We want to give people a new perspective from which they can make health decisions that make sense. This is tricky in a sea of information fragments, infomercials and internet overload. Specialized medicine has sky-rocketed human health and longevity. But at an individual level, we need a generalist view to put all the layers and pieces together to make sensible decisions. Concepts like panarchy, scale and Energetic Debt provide a unifying perspective. Useful wellness models should help us better understand metabolic processes (e.g. weight management), sort through commercial product claims and understand the limits of traditional medicine and the health insurance industry.
At True Vitality Bioenergetics, we teach people to ask new questions about their health and to look for solutions from interwoven perspectives. Our panarchy framework embeds multiple layers and scales in the body and gives us a new angle from which to consider established scientific data. Looking for new solutions uncovers our assumptions about wellness. For example, at True Vitality, we believe that the body adapts to whatever we ask it to do. We don't need to even be aware of environmental demands like relationship stress, living indoors, Earth's magnetic field strength for the body to adjust accordingly.
Using a panarchy framework, higher level slower-changing cycles (like a daily circadian rhythm) hold memory and structure and constrain lower level faster cycles (like insulin rising and falling after you eat several times a day). Innovation (mitochondrial mutations) happens at the faster cycles and push adaptation toward the higher levels. Higher levels create constraints (sunlight cycles) on faster cycles (hormone and Vitamin D production).
Health maintenance is not a simple project. Everyone needs a minimal understanding of how anatomical and energetic systems influence each other. If health were truly as straight forward as "eating right and exercising," a lot more people would be trim and strong. But in reality, this advice works well for some people and poorly for others. The idea of panarchy prompts us to consider context variables that influence how effective diet and exercise can be.
Visible contextual variables include age (which is so obvious we usually take it for granted and overlook what can be modified), gender (some disorders are more common for one gender than the other), climate and geography of where we live, family health history and how much processed food we eat.
Invisible contextual variables include mitochondrial heteroplasmy (mutation rate), baseline nerve myelination (sturdier in men than women and children), deuterium levels, epigenetics, balance of sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems, hypermobility/connective tissue integrity, vestibular perception, Vitamin D levels, inflammation or scars from old injuries, brain wave coherence and low stomach acid.
In True Vitality education materials, we don't just recycle what you can learn from a random Google or Youtube search. We dig deeper into pain and lifestyle conditions. We examine pain and dysfunction from multiple scales (e.g. whole body, nervous system, cellular inflammation).
